Happy 25th! - October 19, 2021

Happy 25th Anniversary to us! It was 1994 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina when we first dreamed of living at the beach. We were on a great July beach vacation to a place we had never been. We admired all the oceanfront beach houses and talked about having one someday. Here we are 27 years later, living at the beach for three months. It’s the closest we’ve come to the dream coming true. It’s a good start.

The day was pretty much the same as all working days but it was nice looking forward to a special dinner.

We hardly ever go out to eat, let along to a fancy place like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse here in Ponte Vedra. We pulled up the menu online, ignored the prices and ordered whatever we wanted. We picked up some flowers, lit a candle and ate in our dining room while looking at the ocean. Better than any restaurant view! Why does a special event like this make it necessary for you to order every wonderfully fat filled item you can, eat it all, follow it with dessert and a “I’m so full, I can’t believe I ate all that.” We vow we will never do this again but when the next big birthday, graduation or anniversary comes along, we do it all over again!

The news earlier this day that my brother was in the hospital with a very serious case of Covid was devastating and a sobering reminder of the daily struggles and tragedies of life and why savoring each moment and celebrating the important times in life are so necessary. Hoping for better news tomorrow.
